To meet the needs of the most vulnerable populations, Mental Health Cooperative (MHC) recently announced an Advisory Board for its Memphis clinic to bring together community leaders to engage residents and help make behavioral health services more accessible in Memphis.

Since opening its doors in 2023, the clinic, located at 3430 Summer Avenue, has assisted 3,440 individuals with a variety of services such as care management, therapy and medication management.

The newly appointed advisory board consists of leaders from healthcare, business, advocacy and Faith-Based organizations who have made a substantial impact in the community and are committed to improving behavioral health access.

Rev. Rickey Dugger – Senior Pastor of Norris Avenue Missionary Baptist Church

Dr. James “Bo” Adams – Pulmonologist and dedicated civic leader

Ernest Strickland – President and CEO of the Black Business Association of Memphis

Isabel Gonzalez-Whitaker – Associate Vice President of Moms Clean Air Force and Director of EcoMadres

Shantelle Leatherwood – President of Leatherwood Coach and Consulting (LC2)

“Change doesn’t come from just one person,” said White. “When passionate community members come together, however, we can make a real difference. MHC remains committed to learning and listening to eliminate barriers to care.”
